Assess Me!

Apparently, it’s that time of year when some of us start thinking about back to school. Not me. Well, not officially at least. I have had a hard rule for myself the past few years that I am not allowed to do anything school related (unless it's shopping lol) until August 1st. So, Saturday...close enough!

And with back to school comes the getting to know you, icebreaker activities.

Rachel over at The Tatooed Teacher is going to post a new "assessment" for us teacher-bloggers to complete each Sunday for the next few weeks. The fun kind of assessments!

That's it! Head on over and link up for some end of summer fun!

Stitch Fix #2

...and I kept it all! :)

I had a different stylist this time, and she seemed to get me better. The first fix was a lot of plain items, not much pattern or color. If I'm going to be doing something like this, I want my items to be something I wouldn't normally choose for myself! Make me step out of my comfort zone a bit, ya know?

As soon as I opened my box, I knew I would love it all. So much color! So many fun patterns!

If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, use my referral link! :) I get a a little kick back once your fix ships.

Here's how it works:
1. Go to through this link to schedule your Fix.
2. Sign up, and you'll fill out an in depth style questionnaire to help your stylist get to know what your likes and dislikes are and, of course, your sizes. The more information you give them, the better they can choose items for you! So far, everything I've received has fit perfectly! :)
3. Create or update a Pinterest board and share it with stitch fix. This also gives your stylist more ideas, and sometimes you might even receive an exact item you pinned! Make sure any items you pin to this board have an explanation to your stylist about why you like it: color, cut, style, pattern, etc.
4. Wait anxiously for your Fix to arrive.
5. Tear into your package when it arrives...I suggest not looking at prices first. I like to figure out how I feel about the pieces before I see the price tag ;) Your $20 styling fee is applied towards any purchase you make. You send back any pieces you don't want for free. AND, if you keep all 5 pieces, you get a sweet 25% discount!

I think I'll do this about once a season to help curb my shopping habit (and fill my closet with quality pieces) ;)

Happy Fixing!! :)

July Currently

How is it July 1st already?! I've only been on break for a few days; it seems like we go later and later each year. Wasn't summer 2 1/2 months when I was in school? I swear it was!

Listening: to Curious George...not my favorite show, but Little Guy loves it. Give me Super Why, Sid the Science Kid, Word World, Wild Kratts, or Sesame Street! At least George isn't as bad as Caillou!! That is one whiny and annoying little kid!

Loving: I love that I get to spend 2 months with my boy! Yes, it's exhausting at times--thank goodness for naps!--but it's definitely fun to have all that quality time together.

Thinking: My to-do list is a mile long...I should really get started on crossing some of those items off...painting, organizing, decorating, and various other projects always await me in the summer. It's a looong list, people! Who has the time or energy during the school year? Not me. :)

Wanting: A pool, since Nolan and I are home all summer, of course we want a pool! And, when he's older, I'd MUCH rather have all his friends coming here all the time rather than sending him off to swim elsewhere--especially the lake. Makes this Momma nervous!

Needing: I really need to get started on Notice & Note for the close reading workshop I'm attending in a couple weeks. For some reason, I just don't feel like reading anything school related yet :P

All Star (something you're really good at):
Baker--I love to bake! For this weekend, I will be throwing together a fruit pizza that looks like a flag; nothing fancy, but it'll fun for the 4th and something that won't melt if it's hot. I make homemade cakes for birthdays and enjoy making cupcakes, but they're a real time sucker. Cookies, breads, and trifles are also some of my specialties.
Battle-Chooser--I've been told by administrators that I'm good at deciding which battles are worth fighting and which to ignore; I like to think that helps me out at home as Momma too. Don't let it fool you, it is different than giving-in. :)
