It is, however, my FAVORITE week of the school year! Read Across America week--We're doing Seussy activities ALL WEEK LONG. I love me some Seuss.
So far, we have read:
- The Cat in the Hat
- The Sleep Book
- One Fish Two Fish
- There's a Wocket in my Pocket
- I Wish that I had Duck Feet
And it's only Wednesday! You should see how into these books my kiddos are; I love how they just stare at the book and are excellent listeners when they really enjoy a story.
Here are a few of the activities we've done so far (writing prompt from Seusstastic Classroom Inspirations). My favorite is the Thing 1 & 2 directed draw. It's the first time I did that with the Things, and they turned out GREAT!
My kiddos are also enjoying hosting Horton at their homes for the next few weeks. They each get him for the night rather than a weekend to keep it going for just a short period of time. I plan on sending The Cat in the Hat home after Horton as long as everyone does well with this. The kids are so excited about it! Below is my travel log (pre changes I made for this year as my "final copy" is on my school computer).
What are you all doing for Seuss week?
