We've Been Up to Something(s)...

Well, September just FLEW by! I can't believe October arrives on fact, I didn't even realize it until I was on my way in to school this morning. Good thing I remembered then! A few quick copies, and I had my behavior calendars, classroom info calendars, kids' calendars, and snack notes all copied and ready to roll. Phew!!

Anyway, here's a quick peek at what we were up to the past few weeks. Busy busy!

  • Pete the Cat: Rocking in my Shape Shoes
  • Rainbow Name Fine Motor Activity
  • ___ My name is __________. Name Writing & Coloring Activity
  • David Goes to School Craftivity idea from Julie Lee, but I put my own spin on it
  • Glue Monsters from Classroom Freebies
  • Apple Tasting Graph & Describing Words
  • Peacemaker/Peacebreaker Sorting Activity from Julie Lee

I thought I brought my David pattern home to scan and share with you all, but I can't find it. It's probably sitting on my for another day!

Here a few tiny additions/changes I made to my classroom over the past week and a half...

The kids colored in feet as one of our first day of school activities. These are their "line-up spots." They are always in the same spot in line unless they are the line leader or caboose. This is the first time I've ever done this, but it seems to be helping! I have a certain little friend who really needs to be towards the front of the line, so this seemed like a good solution without singling anyone out. Plus, there isn't any arguing over who got in line first!

I added more jobs to our job list and made new pockets for them. Can you tell I love to use rainbow colors? :o)

We've been busy little bees since the beginning of school; I hope to have some pictures of the kids' work soon. Now we're into the new regional pre-assessments, so we're testing, testing, testing this week. On the plus-side, they do look fair. I just think it's a lot for 4 and 5 year-olds. Yes, I have 6 kids (out of 13) who either JUST turned 5 or won't turn 5 until November. Does anyone else think the cut-off date in NY should be August 1st?!
